Force III Vertical Pole
The Force III in-ground basketball system uses a vertical post built from 5 inch square steel tubing with a 3/16 inch wall thickness, finished in black powdercoat, and anchored through a 3/8 inch thick baseplate reinforced with four welded support gussets. It is First Team's mid-to-upper tier fixed and adjustable outdoor system, positioned for schools, parks, and multi-family recreation areas rather than backyard use.
First Team publishes a full written product specification for the Force III covering the extension arm construction, backboard support, and anchoring hardware, letting a specifying engineer or athletic director confirm exact steel gauges and weld points before purchase, the same level of detail required in most public bid documents.
That 3/16 inch wall thickness and gusseted baseplate matter directly in New England: heavier gauge steel and a reinforced base resist the added stress that wind-loaded backboards and rims see in winter storms, and a well-gusseted footing connection is far less likely to work loose from repeated frost heave than a thin-wall pole on a plain flat plate.
